FAQ’s

The only silly questions are the ones you never ask. But with that in mind we’ve tried to cover all the answers to questions you may have below. For any more, please don’t hesitate to use the form at the bottom of the page and Matt or Will will be happy to answer

Can I cancel my trip at any time?

Our structure works in a way that makes organising your safari as flexible as possible. We will give you ample time to change your mind between your enquiry and paying your first deposit however, once we have received your first deposit this is non refundable. Given the nature of having to secure permits, accommodation and internal flights/ transfers long in advance, it is not possible to make last minute changes and refunds.

Should you need to cancel your trip having paid your deposit, please contact us directly at safaris@armstrongfortescue.com and we will attempt to accommodate any changes where possible.

Do I have to be a photographer to come on a group safari?

Absolutely not. Our safaris are crafted in a way that they can be enjoyed either by photographers or those that would prefer to take everything in without a camera in hand. Armstrong Fortescue was founded on the premise that not everyone on safari is an avid photographer and some guests would rather wait for ‘that’ moment for the dream shot while others would prefer to move on and see what surprises await.

Our small group sizes and combination of Matt and Will’s guiding means that we can split our groups in to teams, with Will leading those more photographically minded and Matt those after a less photographically intense safari, ideal for those couples whom may not be on the same page about what makes an ideal safari…

For those photographers among you, be you seasoned safari veteran or just picking up a camera for the first time, we accommodate photographers of all skill levels and can even show you how to get the best out of your camera phone.

Do I need any vaccinations before my safari?

These will be determined by the destination of your trip. We advise all of our travellers to consult your doctor or local vaccination clinic at least three months prior to departure to seek medical advice.

What is my baggage allowance?

As with vaccinations, this varies depending on our destination. For Uganda and India, we will be using light aircraft for internal flights, these have a strict 15kg limit per person, including hand luggage. If you feel this is going to be an issue with your camera equipment, please send us a message using the form below and we can book you a freight seat, allowing you additional luggage.

I’m a photographer or guide, can I host a safari with Armstrong Fortescue?

Absolutely. We are always on the look out for specialist guides and new destinations. If you have an idea for a trip or simply have a species/ location you believe an itinerary could be built around, please contact us here and we would love to hear from you.
